Along the way
Schedule
Our adventure begins with a scenic drive along the Georgian Military Highway towards the Kazbegi region. From the village of Kobi, we’ll continue towards the entrance of Truso Valley, where our hiking experience begins.
The trail leads through a spectacular mountain gorge, opening into a wide alpine valley surrounded by towering peaks. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views, fresh mountain air, and the peaceful atmosphere of one of Georgia’s most beautiful natural destinations.
One of the valley’s most fascinating attractions is its remarkable travertine landscape, created by mineral-rich waters flowing from natural springs.
Discover beautiful terraces and colorful deposits in shades of orange, yellow, and white, forming an extraordinary contrast with the surrounding green mountains. Your guide will explain how these natural formations developed over time and why Truso Valley is geologically unique.
Continue along the trail to discover the valley’s famous mineral springs and the unusual Abano Lake, known for its bubbling, carbonated waters.
These fascinating natural features reveal the geothermal activity beneath the Caucasus Mountains. The combination of colorful mineral deposits, crystal-clear streams, and dramatic mountain scenery creates wonderful opportunities for photography.
As we venture deeper into the valley, we’ll encounter historic settlements with traditional stone houses, ancient defensive towers, and atmospheric ruins.
These remote villages offer a glimpse into the lives of the communities that once inhabited this isolated mountain region. Explore the surroundings while learning about the valley’s cultural heritage, local traditions, and fascinating history.
For guests choosing the longer hiking route, our journey continues towards the impressive ruins of Zakagori Fortress, situated near the upper reaches of Truso Valley.
Surrounded by magnificent mountain scenery, this historic site once helped protect the valley’s strategic routes. Its ancient stone structures and dramatic setting make it one of the most memorable highlights of the adventure.
Access to this area is subject to current border-zone regulations and local conditions.
During our hiking adventure, we’ll stop at a scenic location to enjoy a freshly prepared picnic lunch surrounded by the spectacular landscapes of the Greater Caucasus.
